Pages, sections and layers

Add and remove pages, create a page with Cortex and organize what's on each one.

Your editable site can have several pages, and each page is made of sections. Here's how to manage them from Studio.

Moving between pages

You have two ways:

  • The page picker in the header, next to your project's name.
  • The Pages tab in the left panel. Press a page to open it.

Adding an empty page

Open Pages

In the left panel, press Pages.

Type its name

Under New page, type the page's address, for example pricing. Use lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens.

Add it

Press + (Add page). Studio opens it so you can edit it.

Creating a page with Cortex

If you'd rather have Cortex write it for you, use the Cortex bar:

  1. At the top of the bar, choose New page.
  2. Describe what it's for and what it needs: "A pricing page with three plans and an FAQ".
  3. Press Send to Cortex.

If you want it in the menu, say so in the same message: "…and add it to the menu".

Removing a page

In Pages, hover over the page and press the trash icon. Confirm with Remove.

The home page can't be removed.

You can bring it back

Removing a page creates a new version of your site. If you change your mind, restore it from History. See History, restore and taking offline.

Layers: the page as a tree

Layers shows each element of the page inside its container: sections, boxes, headings, text, buttons…

  • Press a layer to select it on the canvas.
  • Drag it to move it.

It helps when an element is hard to reach with the mouse, like a small one inside another.

When Cortex changes the header or footer of one page, the other pages that share that header or footer get the change too.

If one of them stayed different, ask like this: "change the footer on every page".
