Your first site, step by step
From creating your account to having your site online, in a few minutes and without coding.
In this guide you create your account, describe your business, Cortex builds your site and you publish it for free. You don't need to know design or code.
Create your account
Go to berse.ai and choose the Create account tab. Enter your email and a password of at least 8 characters.
Tick the terms box and press Create my account.
Confirm your email
Berse sends you an email to confirm your address. Open the link: it works on any device, including your phone.
Didn't get it? Check your spam or promotions folder. If it's not there, press Didn't get it? Resend.
Answer four quick questions
Berse asks your name, what you'll create, what you do and how you found us. With that, it suggests a first idea.
You can skip any question with Skip this question. At the end, write or pick your idea and press Create: the create screen opens with the idea already written.
Choose the kind of site
Under Kind of site there are two options:
- Made by Cortex (beta, selected by default when it's available to you): Cortex codes your site to measure and you change it by talking to it.
- Editable site: you edit it yourself on a visual canvas, piece by piece.
Not sure? Read Editable site or Made by Cortex. The kind can't be changed later.
Describe your idea and press Create
Say in a few sentences what you do, who it's for, where you are and how it should feel. If you have a brand name, include it.
You can also attach photos or your logo with the paperclip, or paste the link of a site you like. When it's ready, press Create (or ⌘ ↵).
Wait while Cortex builds it
- Editable site: you'll watch your site come together step by step. It usually takes one or two minutes.
- Made by Cortex: Studio opens and Cortex shows you its plan. It suggests three design directions and goes on with the recommended one if you don't pick. You'll watch your site being built live, in a few minutes.
Change something
- Editable site: double-click any text to type over it, or ask Cortex in the bar at the bottom.
- Made by Cortex: write in the chat what you want to change. With Select you can point at a part of the site before you ask.
See it on a phone
Change the screen size at the top of Studio and pick the phone. That's how most of your visitors will see it.
Publish it
Press Publish, at the top right. Usually in under a minute your site is online at a free address: yourbusiness.berse.site for an editable site, or its own free address on a separate Berse domain for a Made by Cortex site.
From there you can Open my site, Copy link or share it on WhatsApp.
What about forms?
There's nothing to connect. Once your site is published, what people send through its forms lands in your project's Forms tab and in your email. Nothing is stored from the preview: test it on your published site.
Depends on your plan
On the Free plan your site carries a small "Made with Berse" badge and uses your free address. With any paid plan the badge goes away without republishing, and you can connect your own domain.
