Editing in Design
Change text, images, videos and blocks right on your site, without touching code.
In Design mode you edit your site on the canvas, the way your visitors will see it. Every change saves itself.
Selecting and typing
- One click selects an element. Its settings appear in Properties, on the right.
- Double-click a text to type over it. Click outside to finish.
- Enter inside a text adds a line break.
- Drag a selected element to move it somewhere else.
When you select something, a small bar appears with Select parent, Move up, Move down, Duplicate and Delete.
Shortcuts: ⌘Z undoes, ⌘D duplicates and the delete key removes what's selected.
Properties
Properties groups the settings into Content, Text, Layout, Size, Spacing, Appearance and Advanced. You only see the ones that make sense for what you selected.
If you empty a text from Properties, the element stays. If you finish typing and the text is empty on the canvas, the element is removed.
Adding elements and sections
Open Add in the left panel. There are single Elements (heading, text, button, image…) and complete Sections (hero, pricing, contact…).
Drag what you want onto the canvas, or click it to add it. You can use the search box at the top.
Images
With an image selected, in Properties:
- Choose from your images opens your Media library.
- Image (URL) takes an image's address.
- Alt text describes the image for people who can't see it.
On a block, Background image adds or removes a background photo. More in Your images, stock photos and your logo.
Videos
Add the Video block
In Add, drag Video onto the canvas. You'll see a box with ▶.
Paste the link
Select the video and paste the link into Video (link). Links from YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Loom, Wistia or TikTok work.
Paste the link of the video's page, the one you copy from your browser. Berse turns it into a player.
Undo
Undo and redo work per page. Your steps are kept even if you go through Code or the preview, or switch pages.
Links don't navigate on the canvas
In Design, pressing a link or button only selects it. That's on purpose, so you don't leave Studio. To try them, use Preview.
If someone else edits the same page
If the changes are in different places, Studio combines them and you'll see "Your changes were combined with someone else's". If they touch the same thing, you'll see "This page changed while you were editing it". Choose Use the saved version or Keep mine.
