Publishing and updating your site

How to put your site online, how to publish your changes later, and how the free address works.

Publishing puts your site online, at an address anyone can open. Here you learn how to publish it the first time and how to publish your changes afterwards. It works the same for an editable site and a Made by Cortex site.

Publishing for the first time

Press Publish

In Studio, top right, press Publish.

Wait a moment

It usually takes under a minute. You can keep working in the meantime.

Share your site

When it's done, you'll see Your site is online with its address. From there you can Open my site, Copy link or share it on WhatsApp. Next steps has shortcuts, such as connecting your domain.

Your free address

An editable site is published at a free address like yourbusiness.berse.site. A Made by Cortex site gets a free address of its own on a separate Berse domain. Either way, the address comes from the project name the first time you publish.

You can change it in project settings → Domain & hosting → Change address. If you change it, the old one stops working. Renaming the project doesn't change the address.

Want an address of your own, like yourbusiness.com? See Connecting your own domain.

Publishing your changes

Saving isn't publishing. Your changes are saved in Berse automatically, but your site on the internet doesn't change until you publish it again.

When you have unpublished changes, the button reads Publish changes and you'll see "You have unpublished changes.". Press it and your site is usually up to date in under a minute.

Depends on your plan

On the Free plan your site carries a small "Made with Berse" badge. With any paid plan it disappears without republishing.

Each plan allows a number of sites online at a time: Free 1, Hobby 1, Starter 3, Pro 10 and Business 40. A site that's already online is never taken down because of this. Publishing it again always works.

If you reach your site limit

If you try to publish a new site and your plan already has all its sites online, Berse tells you. You have two options: take another site offline (it stays saved and you can publish it again) or upgrade your plan. See Plans.

If publishing fails

If something goes wrong, Berse explains it in the Publish menu and you can try again. On an editable site, if the site couldn't be built, Fix with Cortex appears. See Fix with Cortex.

On a Made by Cortex site, tell Cortex about the error in the chat and it will help.
