FAQ
Short answers to what people ask most about Berse, your site, plans and privacy.
Short answers to the most common questions. If yours isn't here, see When something doesn't work.
Getting started
Do I need to know how to code or design?
No. You describe your business in your own words and Cortex builds the site. Then you change it by clicking on it or by asking Cortex.
Is it free?
You can create your site and publish it for free on a free Berse address, with the "Made with Berse" badge. You pay when you want your own domain, real payments, more sites online or more credits. You don't need a card to start.
Which countries is Berse available in?
Berse isn't available yet in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom. Accounts can't be created from there.
Can I switch between an editable site and Made by Cortex?
No. The kind of site is chosen when you create it and can't be changed later. If you're unsure, read Editable site or Made by Cortex.
Your site
Who owns the site?
You do. You can download its code at any time from the project's settings, under Your code, as a Next.js project. You can take it to any host that supports it.
Does my site go offline if I stop paying?
No. Downgrading, cancelling or a failed payment doesn't take a published site offline. Each plan's limits only apply when you publish a new site, add a domain or connect a live Stripe key.
Is a domain included?
Connecting your own domain comes with any paid plan, from Hobby. You buy the domain itself from your registrar, such as GoDaddy or Namecheap. See Connecting your own domain.
Where do I connect my site's forms?
Nowhere. Publish your site and what people send arrives in the Forms tab and in your email. See Forms.
Can I build sites for my clients?
Yes. Invite them to their project to edit or just view, and set aside credits for them without them seeing your balance. See Credits set aside for a project.
Cortex and AI
Which AI models does Cortex use?
Cortex uses third-party AI models: Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI or Google. With Auto, Cortex picks the model; you can also choose one yourself when creating. See Choosing the model.
Can Cortex make mistakes?
Yes. Cortex uses AI models and can make mistakes, so check what matters before publishing. You can go back to any earlier version from History.
Money and privacy
Does Berse take a cut of my sales?
No. Payments go to your own Stripe account; you only pay Stripe's fees.
Do I get invoices?
Yes, for subscriptions: your invoices are in Usage & credits → Invoices and payment method. For a credit pack, Stripe emails you the payment receipt.
Does Pulse put cookies on my site?
No. Pulse measures without cookies, doesn't store IP addresses and can't link a visitor's days together. To count who comes back, it keeps a small note without any identifier in the visitor's browser. Whether your site needs a consent notice depends on the law where you operate.
