SEO, icon and share image

Decide how your site appears on Google, in the browser tab, and when someone shares your link.

In SEO you choose the title and description of each page, your site's icon, and the image shown when it's shared. It works the same for editable sites and Made by Cortex sites.

Where to find it

In Studio, click your project's name (top left) and choose SEO. On a Made by Cortex site, open it with the gear at the top. The SEO & sharing window opens on top of wherever you are.

Titles and descriptions for Google

In What shows on Google, each card shows exactly what people will see when they search for you. Start with Home: its description is also used on pages you leave without one.

Fill in your brand

In Your brand, type the Site name the way someone would search for it.

Ask Cortex for help

Press Suggest with Cortex. Cortex fills in titles and descriptions based on your site.

Review and adjust

Change anything you don't like in each page's Title and Description.

Save

Press Save. It's saved as a new version of your site.

If a page shouldn't appear on Google, such as a "thank you" page, turn on Hide from search engines on its card.

Your site's icon

The icon appears in the browser tab, in bookmarks, and next to your site on Google. Under Icon, choose how to make it:

  • Letter: one or two letters or an emoji, with a background, colour and shape.
  • Image: press Upload image (PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG). A square box appears: move it and resize it from the corners or sides. Whole picture and Fill adjust it in one tap. Finish with Use this crop.

The share image

Social image is the card people see when your link is shared on WhatsApp, LinkedIn, X or Slack. With Generate the image automatically, Berse creates it from your brand name and your Home description. You pick the style and colour.

What Berse does for you

When you save, Berse also creates sitemap.xml and robots.txt, which help Google find all your pages. There's nothing else to do.

Saving isn't publishing

Google and social networks read your published site. After saving, publish so they see the new titles, icon and image. If you close SEO with unsaved changes, Berse warns you.

If Google doesn't show it yet

Google takes days to find a new site. Check that Show in search engines is on and that your site is published. Then give it time.
