Asking for changes that work
How to talk to Cortex from Studio so it understands what to change, where and how.
Cortex understands what you ask in your own words. A few habits help it get things right the first time more often.
The Cortex bar
On an editable site, the Cortex bar sits at the bottom of Studio. Press ⌘K to jump to it, type, and press Enter to send. Shift + Enter adds a new line.
At the top of the bar you choose what Cortex will change:
- Page: the page you have open.
- New page: Cortex creates a new page from scratch.
- Whatever you selected: if you select something on the canvas, the bar reads "Ask for a change to “…”…".
On a Made by Cortex site you write in the chat. See Talking to Cortex.
Five habits that help
- One change per message. "Make the hero button green" works better than five changes at once.
- Say where. Name the place ("the hero button", "the footer") or select the element before you type.
- Say how it should end up. "Shorter and more direct", "make it stand out more", "in two columns".
- Give the exact details. Phone numbers, prices, opening hours and names, exactly as you want them shown.
- For the whole site, say so. Write "on every page" or "across the whole site".
If you don't select anything but talk about a single thing, like "change the main heading", Cortex finds it and edits only that part.
After each change
Cortex checks your page on phone, tablet and desktop. You'll see "Checked on mobile", or how many fixes it made before showing you.
If you don't like the result, press Undo in the notice or use ⌘Z.
When Cortex doesn't change anything
You'll see "Cortex didn't change anything: the page may already have it". Try saying it another way or select the element. If nothing changes, nothing is charged.
Connecting integrations from the bar
Type / and pick from the menu: /stripe for payments, /resend for email or /maps for a map. You can also say it in your own words: "connect payments". More in Integrations.
Check what matters
Cortex uses AI models and can make mistakes. Check prices, phone numbers and legal text before you publish.
The "Made with Berse" badge
On the Free plan, the badge isn't part of your site: Berse adds it. Cortex can't remove it. It goes away with any paid plan, without publishing again. See Plans.
